Illustration is much more than an expensive indulgence

It's good to indulge every now and then, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. It is also refreshing to see a purpose designed illustration contributing its own style to a publication. Illustrations not only function on a decorative level, they can be made to work to justify their existence. Maps, plans, charts, schematics and concepts are all prime examples which, with careful consideration, can still be presented in a stylish and interesting manner.
